Better to park at junction in winter it’s risky to drive but best time to visit is winter it is a good experience trekking in winter what I recommend when you’re going to this place(winter) warm clothing, boots, gloves. Better to be careful when you are walking through trail it’s slippery and there is a small water flow between trail it looks like snow but it’s a layer of ice water flowing underneath. It’s better to visit in sunny day.

It’s an amazing little area to hike with friends or family. I believe they had 3 or more different trial selections but I do remember the beautiful diversity. If you’re bringing a dog and want to go on the trail marked with the “ladder,” don’t worry. It’s more a set of stairs.
Really fun trail. A challenging 5 km loop if you chose to do so. Can get very muddy in the fall. The out-and-back to the falls is the more popular route it seems. The parking lot has room for 6-7 cars and fills up quickly on the weekends. We encountered two creek crossings. Thank you Lambton Shores Nature Trails for maintaining this trail!
This is a real hidden gem of Ontario! It is not a picnic place though by itself, but rather a place to see and admire for real conneseurs of nature or geology, as well as for kids who will love waterfalls. This part of the Ausable river goes through 400 mln year old deposits of fossils that are a real wonder to see (please do NOT collect anything, leave it intact for all of us today and in the time to come to share these wonders of the past delivered to our times in this intact form). This area is a well kept secret of many world class geologists. We used to take our kids here many years ago to boost up their imagination and exploration drive. It worked! :-) We have a collection of great pictures of our fascinating findings out there. (Take pictures, not fosils, you get the idea...) From here you have several nearby destinations to pick for a picnic. We loved the Huron Lake shore with huge Pinery Provincial Park or free Iperwash beach close by. Several places to eat out there too to complete one great half a day to a full day tour to remember. Yup, it is yours to discover... and then to keep and protect...
We entered the path on the sode closer to the waterfall. The waterfall and trail had no swimming opportunities, the river was far too high to even try; however mystery falls were a wonder to behold, my kid was not disappointed by the whole experience! He loves to swim but was thrilled by our experience. The inconspicuous winding path leads around the corner to an awe inspiring cove of natural beauty. You can observe the landscape from the top of the 5m falls, then use the rope handrail to ascend to the base of the falls where the air is cooled by the formation offering the most enchanting energy and a great spot to picnic. We walked along the creek in an attempt to get to the river, it was a challenge at some points but the bugs weren't too bad 2/10, just some annoying flies that wanted our sweat. The bridges and ladder and angles of the land made the whole experience physically and mentally satisfying and refreshing. The rock glen falls are beautiful and great, but between the drive there and the hike, it was an even trade off for the lack of pools and river access.
