A small but very picturisque run along the Vaal River. A very enthusiastic group of volunteers have kept this run going for over 200 runs !! The run starts and ends in the same place, but has a loop within a loop to ensure the full 5 km is covered. Marshalls guide you at the right spots and the far end turn is clearly marked. The scenery along the river keeps your attention, initially the run goes through the Mimosa Gardens, which has campsites along the river, and a number of little Swiss type units further back from the river. Then across a well kept lawn areas in front of river front homes and on to a pathway and under the R53 bridge which heads towards Potchestroom and various accommodation on the other side of the river. Then along a Jeep track and in some sections single track crossing some small bridges and now and then the sound of the river flowing across rocks. The organisers have tried wherever possible to ensure returning runners take a different route where conflicts are likely. In spots locals have parties and the park run volunteers rise early to ensure litter is cleared. Hats off to them ! For Parkrun tourists there is a guest book at the finish to record your experience.

It is a very fun experience that challenges me every week to do something, even if it is this one thing, better. It's just me and my thoughts. I really enjoy the Parkrun and would love to join others as well in in upcoming months

A beautiful parkrun with a lively crowd. The loops cause a bit of congestion if you are pushing for a faster time. Lovely view along the river. Beware of potential ditches covered by longer grass. Definitely worth the visit.

A small but fun parkrun. Some extra route markers would have been awesome. The route is essentially run out for 1.7km, turn around, run 700m back, turn around, run back to the first turnaround point, turn around, run back to the start... The photobooth idea was a nice touch and the oom running things was very friendly.
