Organic Farm at Taru Mitra

The Organic Farm at Taru Mitra came up around five years ago with Ms Margaret being its chief architect. Food grown in farms has been contaminated over many years because of the use of fertilisers and pesticides and the habit of making a fast buck. Conerns were about the need for food grown naturally as our fore-fathers did. So Taru Mitra began this project on the land given by Xavier's Teachers Training Institute which runs St. Xavier's College of Management and Technology. Young people, especially a large number of school children are involved in planting and harvesting rice grown here organically.
