The High Court of Judicature at Patna was founded in 1916 and is one of the oldest high courts in the country with a grand history. It is the constitutional court which deals with complex problems and legal questions of great significance that touch the lives of citizens. The power to hold legislature and executive lies on the high court which has time and again established it's reputation. The architecture is fantastic with wide inputs from the British who established itself with global inputs. The rights of men and writs are decided at this place but recently it has been losing its glory because of lack of judges and inefficiency. It's the third pillar of democracy.

The court is headquartered in Patna, the administrative capital of the state.Proclamation made by Governor-General of India on 22 March 1912. The foundation-stone of the High Court Building was laid on Monday, 1 December 1913 by His Excellency the late Viceroy and Governor-General of India, Sir Charles Hardinge of Penshurst.
