I have never left a poor review before but felt the customer service my husband and I received yesterday was Just so awful. We went into the shop to buy cheese and sourdough bread. Only one person per household was allowed in which I didn’t quite understand so my husband had to stand outside in the rain. But putting that minor point on one side I asked the lady behind the counter if the bread on display was white sourdough initially she was unsure and the other lady serving thought it wasn’t sourdough but it was finally agreed it was so we bought two loaves and some cheeses. When we got home we cut into one of the sourdough loaves and it was brown not white. As we don’t like brown bread and it was pretty expensive we felt we would return it. When my husband took them back the Frenchman who I think is the owner was unbelievably rude. When my husband explained they were brown not white he was told by the owner they were a mixture of brown and white. So my husband explained we had specifically asked for white to which he replied’ as I have already told you they are a mixture of brown and white’ . A dispute began where the shop owner was just rude. It was clearly their error. It has to be said the lady servers looked mortified by the Frenchman’s behaviour. I have noticed this is not the first bad review quoting appalling customer service. It costs nothing to be nice. What a shame because it is a lovely shop with fantastic cheese but in a small town like penarth you cannot get away with customer service like that for long. My husband was finally refunded but left vowing never to return. What a shame.
