In-store shopping
We were staying in Patterdale and Glenridding Mini Market was a place where we'd shop after hikes and walks. Prices are high and unfortunately service wasn't great. The man behind the counter wouldn't smile or reply to us when we said him goodbye. On the positive side, they offer a wide range of beer, some of them local.

Called in while cycling as part of lock down daily exercise allowance. Surly shopkeeper (yes, all those earlier posts were spot on) refused to take my card for a sub 5 transaction. I told him that the generally accepted advice was to use cards where possible to prevent Covid 19 spreading. It cut no ice though - he said he preferred cash to cards! But every cloud does have a silver lining - I got back on the bike and found a wonderful food store a few miles away in Pooley Bridge, run by charming people, with a much more refreshing attitude. When the lock down ends and you have a choice where to shop, I'd give this place a wide berth.
[July 2020] One of the most miserable shop keepers in England. Priced high, but has most supplies for a day on the fells.
Great shop with a very wide selection of produce and at reasonable prices too. Store owner is a decent guy, behind his gruff exterior and puts some hours in.
Great little shop. So many items and fabulous beer selection. But be warned Mr Grumpy will serve you
