This place is the ultimate getaway, even the drive to get there is stunning. It’s in the middle of nowhere and it’s so peaceful the only sounds I heard was the birds and running water from the stream. A weekend is just not long enough, it’s like a different world. I have never seen stars quite like it at night time. I will be returning most definitely.
We arrived here for a 4 day break, mid october and was greeted by beautiful scenery as expected, This is a quiet secluded site with a selection of lodges, well looked after and fitted out to high standard, some having hot tubs, We did travel out to Ullswater and Ambleside, however there are lots of paths from the site and could forget about your car all the time you are there, We had clear skies 2 nights and it was lovely to go in the hot tub and see the milky way, the glow which could be seen with the naked eye, Fantastic place if peace and quiet is your thing, lots of wild birds, beer etc
Seclusion is something you hear about but to be somewhere where the sounds outside continue unchanged since history began is truly wonderful. I can hear the babbling stream to one side of the estate, the gentle breeze through the trees, and the crickets chirping away. No traffic, no aircraft, not even the noise from other people. And the view... Well, see pic. Apart from that, the lodge is good, clean and comfy. There's a TV and all the usual facilities. For a bit extra, you can hire lodges with a hot tub. Not my thing so we're just enjoying the quiet life. Oh, there is WiFi too - it's slow but reflects the pace of life here.
