Just had my entire cottage roof replaced between the end of May and early August. I want to start by saying the quality and approach of the actual roofers is excellent. They are polite , friendly and their work is of a very high standard. The lads who come to work on your roof know what they are doing, as does Mark the manager. The downside is more to do with the costing. I was initially quoted 12k to do the roof which I accepted, given K Venning the owner had been recommended to me by my father who knew him. I also asked for a lead tray to be fitted for 2.5 k as the chimney was leaking. That seemed a lot for a tray costing 96 at travis Perkins but I wanted security of no damp. The cottage has a lean to bathroom and they quoted me separately for its roof which I challenged as it’s part of the roof and that was removed from the bill . I also said I would supply nearly all of the guttering which I did but was charged 750 for the fitting and supply of 1 S bend that I couldn’t source. I have a lot of excess guttering which could be fitted to the lean to bathroom but that wasn’t in the quote so have to fit myself. Also , accidentally their van broke the render on my wall in front of the cottage which they readily replaced but I’ve had to paint it , along with the dashing under the gutter work that they charged 750 for. My impression is that the lads and mark are walking a tightrope between keeping the customers happy and trying to make as much money as they can for the Venning family. I understand that all businesses want to make as much profit as possible but my advice to all potential customers of Vennings is to be EXACTLY clear on what you are EXACTLY wanting them to do before you go ahead. Once you and them are EXACTLY clear then their workers will do a great job. Although how you know how clear you are on a reroof having never done one before god only knows ! Good luck.

We had a quote to take off all the slates and repair the roof of the Manor Arms, Broughton in Furness, a grade 2 listed building. We also needed repairs to one chimney stack and a replacement on the other stack. Vennings sorted all the building regulations and conservation issues - a blessing! The quote was very comprehensive and competitive. We had a 'window' for the work to be done in October and this was fulfilled. The roofers were very professional and just got on with the job. We had a few problems but these were very soon resolved throughout the job. (One of the delights of a building c1768). When Vennings were contacted about concerns the staff were very responsive and efficient. We would definitely recommend the company.
