Poorly signposted. Blocked access, barbed wire on Stiles. Big dogs will not get through or over. Will definitely not be coming here again. Pretty aggressive signs re shutting gates!

There are few beauty spots in Cumbria that beckon or are worthy of repeated visits. I have been visiting Nunnery Walks for 55 years and I never tire of the peace, the mellow rushing of the water and the abundance of wildlife. With Boxer dogs and a Labrador obstacles have proved no problem and arriving at the Eden does NOT require signposts. You simply walk downhill from the road. Conversely to return to your car.
We went where Google maps told us and found a none too big netted off area with a bolted but unlocked gate. Inside it was very overgrown. Later in Kirkoswald we were told the walks had been closed for ten years. In view of the very positive review by Christopher I suspect that Google has taken us to the wrong place. Have not yet discovered where we should have gone. By the way Ravens Ghyll in Kirkoswald is utterly beautiful so all in all we had a good day out.
