Back end of August 2020 we attended the Squirrel for a bite to eat during a much needed camping trip, we managed to order fish and chips which arrived in a cardboard box only one and a half hours later, at this point as you can imagine I was ravenous and proceeded to inhale said fish like a man possesed which on reflection was not the best idea I have had. I can only conclude that the fish served had been line caught directly from the Dead Sea as it was the saltiest thing I have ever had the pleasure to shovel into my maw. I asked my better half to try it and she concluded that it just needed more vinegar, luckily they had provided a full 2 sachets of malt vinegar and also a tub of tartar sauce. I applied said condiments which supprisingly made no difference what's so ever but plowed on.I eventually conceded defeat once my vision started to fail and my pursed lips resembled a cats ring piece. In conclusion I did not enjoy it

Stayed on the site for 4 nights, was looking forward to visiting the squirrel as we always do.First time we went, we stood in the queue only to be told that there was no food left at 6-30. Very poor planning on someone part as the site was fully booked. Went the next night only to find the kitchens were closed altogether. We did not give up and went back the following night a bit earlier in case they ran short again but we managed to order. after waiting over an hour and a half we got some food, 3 of us ordered the fish and chips and this i have to say was the saltiest piece of fish i have ever tasted. All 3 were very very salty, if at this point we hadnt already heard that the kitchens had ran out of food again we would have taken it back but were so hungry we ate what we could stomach with loads of tartare sauce. My worst experience of this pub of all the times i have been. I am giving 1 star as i cant leave none.

Food is poor- all frozen & fried. Disorganised due to Covid, only serving food in cardboard boxes with plastic knives & forks. Staff unfriendly & abrupt. DON’T bother go to the more hospitable BeeHive down the road. This pub lets the holiday park.
