Highly recommend! I have just graduated from there as a A level student and boarder. I met some of the most amazing people and the teachers really care for their students.Winchester is so safe and a beautiful. If u need any help mentally or academically u can always go up to the place called the hub on campus and there is always someone to listen and help you. its one of the top 6 sixth forms for a reason! Boarding there was amazing, its hard to get into but if u do i highly recommend as its a great stepping stone for university and its fun and totaly worth the money. The sports and teams are amazing too there is something for everyone and its important to join to make friends and have fun outside of academics. you can easily walk to the shops and the center which is super good coz u can pop in during ur breaks. (as for those saying about drug problems there wrong. idk where they went to or when but that was not the case for me, ofc there r a few ppl who take drugs but thats everywhere u go. it def isnt a problem). Almost everyone who goes there gets into a top university which shows how good it is coz u dont need amazing grades to get in. Support from the teachers is amazing and its really easy to make new friends.

This college made me lose interest in studying and knocked my confidence in my potential. I have never been more unmotivated in my life than at this college, I truly feel that there must be a change in the way the teachers encourage the students to learn and understand information rather than regurgitate it just so that they can get good grades.

After attending here for 2 years I can confirm all comments about the lack of support are accurate. College caters to rich student from neighbouring secondary schools If you're working class/not local to Winchester I don't recommend this college. Even the facilities are lacking, learning centres are mostly full and sports facilities are limited. If you feel you don't need teachers to learn then this college is for you. If I could go back in time I would never of chosen this college.

As a parent with my child in her final year at the college: With the covid situation, Peter Symonds Computer Science teachers (other than Mary) seem just as incompetent as the government are. Seem to want to make students sitting A level exams in October 2020 more stressed by not helping them with the necessary software licenses needed to sit their exams. While students who are brave enough to sit exams in October struggle, teacher fob their requests off as being on holiday or we'll get back to you. Just because covid has caused students to sit their exams in October 2020 instead of June 2020, doesn't mean they're not your students anymore.

The whole ethos is terrible. The college encourage their students to work unrealistically hard, resulting in massive mental health problems for the vast majority. When these problems occur, there is little to no support and teachers are poor at providing the support regardless. Teachers regularly show major favouritism towards their preferred students (often this is related to gender) this is particularly a problem in the history department where ability is ignored in predicted grades among other things in favour of students with a better relationship with the teacher. This college also has major problems with drugs to the extent that the college has stopped anti-drug work and instead teaches the students to take them safely (not even discouraging the use). You don't even have to look in order to find bags of drugs and people talk freely about stashes of drugs in bins. On many occasions students attend lessons under the influence of drugs. Only attend this college of you are already achieving well and have plenty of support from home. Additionally, the kitchen and canteen is unhygienic as I have heard and seen many cases of hair in food being served (within the boxes so it must have come from the workers.) 2/10
