Lovely quiet lonely silky sand endless flat beach with plenty of dunes further inland and a very picturesque lighthouse. To get to the closest carpark you'll have to drive on an uneven dirt track for a mile or so (I did it in an mx5 and was fine though), then you'll have to walk on small paths to get past the dunes (perfectly safe for children, just don't bring along the pram)

Hostel is closed for maintenance with no mention of when it will reopen. However, Rattray lighthouse which is near the hostel is a nice place to visit. But you have to drive on narrow and uneven roads for quite a bit before reaching the car park.

Came to photograph the Rattray head lighthouse which is surrounded by sand dunes you can get good shots from various vantage points on the dunes would recommend good sturdy foot ware there are also good coastal walks ideal for dogs although the beach as some debris
