At the end of the 17th century, maritime warfare between the French, English and Dutch wreaked havoc. In the heart of this economic and military battle, Saint-Malo was on the way to become the main port of France. So it became urgent to defend the famous corsair city whose strategic position was of first importance. For this purpose, Louis XIV commissioned the architect Vauban to implement a military defense. Vauban created an ambitious defense system that perfectly integrated the geography of the coasts and possible maritime attacks. At the heart of this system of fortifications is the Petit Bé. A flag is raised to indicate that the fort is open to the public.

Worth the walk and a slight scramble to the fort. Well preserved and excellent guides. Good view of St. Malo.
Only possible to visit with low tides.
The little sister of the two island just offshore Saint Malo. You csn reach this island on foot during low tide, but if you want to reach the fort, it requires a bit of climbing, proper footware is required. Going into the fort requires a payment of 6 (March ‘18) and I am bot sure whether you will get any better view than from Grand Bé. The low tide reveals all the mussels living on the rocks. There are thousands of them.
Great location great to weather and very nostalgic village
Small but beautiful.
A really lovely place. Full of history, magnificent views and amazing people. I highly recommend it
There was nothing to do there but the place is just majical to me. Walking around the rocks, the beautiful tide pools. I loved it and hope i am fortunate enough to go back some day.
