Located near Gendi Gate, Lad Wada, whose original named was Lad Bibi no Wado, is named after wife of Nawab Pathan of Patan, Lad Bibi, a muslim lady, who left her husband & stayed in this area. She had good relations with people who ruled Baroda at that time & was also rich & influential. Sureshwar Desai, who were also a part of establishing Gaekwadi rule, looked on financial dealings of Lad Bibi. During rule of Mughals in Baroda, the command was in hand of Sher Khan Babi, who was actully a officer of Moghal Suba from Ahmedabad, who stayed in Bhadra near Pani Gate. It is said by many that Lad community stayed here, but its not true.
