[From a beginner bass player] Great music store. Stopped in for some guitar picks and strings and had help from both staff and customers. Nice selection. Lots of parking and quick access make this a worthwhile stop anytime.

I love Sight & Sound. It is a cool small shop in a small Northern Michigan city. I've never felt cheated or misled on any of my purchases and I was always treated with respect letting me know that they sincerely valued my patronage. About a year and a half ago I began looking for new acoustic guitar, and even though I wasn't planning on spending more than 500 or so Brian treated me with respect and let me take my time playing roughly eight or nine different guitars before I discovered a beautiful Lag Tramontane that I did indeed purchase that day! During the process of playing the many different guitars Brian was able to answer questions relating to each guitar such as wood types, etc and even though I had made it clear that I was not certain I would make a purchase that day, however, once I had discovered the Lag T100ACE-brs after some quick price checking with my smart phone Brian’s price was lower than all of the other stores and that was with the numerous quality freebies Brian threw in as well! Along with an outstanding deal on the Lag I purchased that was far lower than both Guitar Center and a few local shops in Traverse City Brian threw in some very nice free goodies such as a high quality gig bag, some Dunlop pics, a nice guitar strap, and a set of Martin strings, but my real test of the quality of Sight & Sounds customer service was roughly three months later when one of the Lag’s tuners broke. I took my guitar in and they didn’t ask any questions other than confirming my cell phone number so they could call me when my guitar was ready to be picked up! I highly recommend you stop in and check out Sight & Sound. I value the honesty and laid back no pressure attitude at Sight & Sound, which you won’t find at those big popular guitar stores!
The shop is kinda small, but they have all kinds of instruments and the prices are amazing. The gentleman that runs the store is very nice and super helpful. They also have a layaway plan which is hard to find any more. So if you're looking for a instrument stop on by there and check them out.
I understand that not every guitar store can be Guitar Center...small music stores are great for getting a start in music, and scoring a diamond in the rough. Not this store though, the selection was decent but the customer service was atrocious. Apparently this is a "buy before you try" store. Meaning if you want to try out an electric instrument by hooking up to an amp you had better be buying it. How do you know that a guitar has good tone without hooking up to an amp? One of the employees follows you around as you check guitars out, like he is afraid you are going to go full rockstar and smash it on the ground. It's too bad for him...I had genuine interest in the guitar I was playing. I probably would have bought it if he hadn't been incredibly rude to a young man who wanted to hook up a bass to an amp. Don't give this guy your money. It feels and smells like a glorified pawn shop.
Great place to pick up your music stuff
Yummy place! Very friendly associates and staff who answered all questions. There are tours of the kitchen factory with sampling of sweets at the end. Recommend staying close to your guide as it does get noisy during the tour. Note: I'll go back!
