Formerly the team was called Samart United, Hello United, Phnom Penh United and Phnom Penh Empire before taking their current name, Phnom Penh Crown FC in 2009. The club is the most successful in Cambodia having won the Cambodian League title six times (2002, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2016) and the Hun Sen Cup twice (2008, 2009). The club also finished Runners-Up in the Cambodian League twice (2005, 2006), once in the Hun Sen Cup (2010) and once in the AFC President's Cup in 2011.
