The view From the top is nice but that's about it. There isn't anything left of the castle, you just take a walk arround the courtyard and look at some remains. They charge you 6 pounds per person for that! Quite a ripoff to be honest.

Wonderful castle to visit. A peaceful and atmospheric place with amazing views. Really friendly and helpful staff. Looking forward to visiting again when the chapel and tower are open.

Great castle to visit; the ruins stand over quite a large area and there's lots to explore. The climb up to the top of the old motte, where the keep once stood, affords fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Would be nice to be able to access some of the other towers that are still standing though.

Great English Heritage site. Good management of pre-booked visits. Great spot for a picnic. Everyone visiting respected the social distancing rules. Spectacular views across Yorkshire from the Keep. Shop attendant was polite and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit to Pickering Castle hopefully in the near future.

Pre book if you wish to explore inside. If not walk around the outside a great location.

A lot of the curtain wall is cordoned off and inside spaces (chapel and tower) closed. We have membership, but would have been disappointed if paid full price. Still good views though.

Was a good few hour visit, large open green spaces so would be good for a picnic in Nice weather. Most areas of the site are accessible, with only the keep having stairs. We'll priced and a well stocked gift shop.

Beautiful! A nice wander around, imagining living the life in an ancient castle
