I love this place! They have the best sandwiches and salads! Their pickle bar is an awesome idea, and I can’t get enough of their pickled tomatoes! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff is attentive and always helpful and friendly! I’ve never had an issue with my food, and if I had they would’ve fixed it right away. I’m so glad they decided to open so close to my house! Now I can stop by frequently to grab some pickled tomatoes yum!

I came here after being rudely turned away at Lenny’s, and will be a repeat customer!! I live in the city but was in Pikesville for something else and my husband was craving a good sandwich. I was excited to see Essen was open later than most delis in the area, but was apprehensive based on the experience I had just had at Lenny’s. I walked in and I was nicely greeted with a menu and told to take my time deciding what to order. I ordered two sandwiches with potato pancakes on the side and a red velvet cupcake, for takeaway. The food was fantastic (the portions are HUGE so come hungry), not to mention the customer service was wonderful. I got to chatting with Mr. Ellison and he was such an enjoyable part of the wait for my food. Last but not least, they have a pickle bar and give you a baggie to pack up. As someone who is obsessed with pickles, it was a DREAM. We’ll definitely be back and I can’t thank Essen enough for turning my Pikesville deli experience around!!
I'm from Cleveland OH where corned beef is very popular. Since I moved to Maryland 3 years ago, I haven't ran across a spot that I felt measured up to what I was accustomed to. Well, Im happy to say I don't have to wait to visit home to get a great sandwich. The food was excellent, and that mustard? Man oh man! I was very happy and will be a regular customer here on out!
Great Jewish Deli, simply best hot pastrami in Baltimore! And all you can eat pickle bar. Huge desserts
