Lovely quaint wee shop. Great to see it being re-purposed. Tonnes of awesome things to look at and buy. The hardest bit was trying to decide what to buy hehe. Love the stunning jewelry too which is brought in and some is also made by the lovely Katherine. Well worth a look in here. Thanks ladies. Can't wait to come back and visit again.

I had online dealings with the owners ahead of a trip, and they've answered all my questions quickly and professionally. They have a wide array of books and jewelry that has something for everyone. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
I called in on my way home after the Six60 concert. Have been meaning to call in for ages. The shop was packed with happy concert goers. Very happy with my purchases. Thanks!
Can't visit Piopio without calling into the Old Piopio Post Office Gallery. I got a lovely glass vase & book last time and a vintage wooden plate this time. Thanks ladies. You've made my day!
My family and I were on a NZ holiday and happened to pass through Piopio. We visited this shop hoping to find some cute souvenirs and the like but were shocked by our displeasurable experience. We were first hit by a funny smell. This turned out to be coming from an uncomfortable looking dog that was being kept behind the counter. Strapped to the dog was a human diaper, which we assume was soiled. Poor thing mustn’t be allowed out of the air conditioned-shop often. Despite this, I still had a quick look around the shop and spied a secondhand book about The Beatles. I decided to flip through it, but after a minute or two I was approached by one of the owners. “This isn’t a library, you know,” she grouchily spat before shuffling away. I wasn’t quite sure how to respond to such a rude comment, but I awkwardly apologised and put the book away. As the rest of the family were still perusing the shop, I looked over the bookshelf some more and found an autobiography by Jackie Chan. After reading the blurb I opened the book to give it a flip through. Once more, after two or so minutes, the same owner shuffled up to me and snatched the book from my hands, placed it back on the shelf, and hissed “Can you go someplace else, please?” I was taken aback by such unfriendly customer service. I looked around and noticed my family were ready to leave the shop. But before we could walk out the door, the little nine year old in my family was stopped and asked by an employee if she had taken anything from the shop - flat out accusing her of shop lifting. She quizzically replied that she hadn’t, and we all left, hopefully never to return. I urge travellers to pass through Piopio to eat at the cafe or sit in the gorgeous park - but definitely don’t visit this shop.
Friendly staff and interesting range of vintage pieces. Left happy to have visited.
I was SO hopeful that this seemingly quaint country shop would provide some beautiful mementos to compliment my trip through the countryside, HOWEVER, it seemed to be mostly cheap and bulk bought imported jewellery and easily found on EBay along with a very large collection of pottery placed all over the floor. Even IF this place had been a mecca of quality, personal, handmade items of the 'owner' was so unfriendly they alone would prompt me to throw my wallet into the nearby stream before spending a cent there. The atmosphere was strange and unwelcoming, I almost felt like I was intruding by being there (maybe because I was accompained by my young siblings and my partner was perusing the second hand books). The smell which I had assumed to be a strange musk from a poorly ventilated heritage building was actually from an oddly diapered dog that was behind the counter. The public toilets 200m away smelt nicer... We left after the 'owner' accused my 9 year old sister of theft and snatched a book (he would have potentially bought) my partners hands...(for perusing too long apprently..) All in all an unfortunately unpleasant experience, not that I'm in Pio Pio often, but I shan't return here. Spend your time and money elsewhere is my advice.
Fantastic selection of jewerly and some vintage pottery which is a rare thing these days. paintings and books.
