Founded in 1547 by Rawat Sawalsinghji, a younger son of the Rawat of Mandawal. The Dodiya Rajputs of Piploda also use the surname "Girnar" because their Kuldevi mata temple is situated atop the Girnar mountain. The origin of the estate is that once, on a pilgrimage to Gujarat, the mother of Maharana Lakha of Mewar and her party were attacked by dacoits, and Rao Siha Dodiya came to the aid of the party, he was killed in the skirmish, but two of his sons, Kalu and Dhawal, took the royal travelers to safety in the Dodiya residence, then later escorted them back to the Mewar border. Maharana Lakha later invited the two sons to Mewar, and granted them the jagir of Lawa. The elder son further moved and established the present estate of "Piploda" in Madhya pradesh. Rawat RAGHURAJ SINGH (known by friends as Reggie Piploda), Rao Saheb of Piploda since 1936, succeeded at the age of 6 months ("Piploda House" Manoramaganj, Indore 452001, Madhya Pradesh, India).
