It was a community service project It was super cool to meet other people and clean the dunes.

During the bloom after some good amount of rain it looks nice. But let's not overrate this is just like a 25-foot walkway along side of fence and in between the road. Where I am from, the whole region is like this. It's just a small patch.you're by the airport and the so so area called Playa del Re, which is a self-proclaimed nice Community which is actually based on Industrial routes extracting oil and gas from the ballona wetlands. Nothing special just a bit of greenery near the airport.

It's the location of an old neighborhood that was bought out by the airport and left to return to nature. This idyllic location is home to the endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly, burrowing owl and legless lizards, in addition to countless other species.

I had a great time volunteering. Everyone was so nice and friendly, and it felt good to help restore these dunes.

Used to be a five star spot, but then they put fencing around it. In the past you could drive through the streets that are now fenced off, and park and watch the planes or the sunset or the ocean. Now it is all surrounded by fencing and you can't see any blue butterflies or anything. So this is just an area surrounded by chain link fencing. Nothing to see here, that is all in the past.

Nice and free, the restoration work is going on at full tilt. Just watch out for dust when they are in the middle of work... though, the affected area is really small. Wind gets rid of the dust real fast.
