My wife's company is searching for a local facility to shred confidential documents for their IT department, and she asked me to check out the local paper shredding service centers, in person. Saw Pro Shred online and the website looked promising. However, based upon my two interactions, they don't deliver, at all. Their website clearly states they're open till 5:30 p.m., but there's no way to check that because no one seemed to pick up the phone even after calling several times over a 2 hour period. However you have to go deep into their website to find out that the drop off hours actually end at 4 p.m. I made two trips down there to test drive their facility with a simple bag of confidential papers. The first time was after 4:00pm, at which time it was already closed as previously mentioned. Then made a second attempt today before 4 pm. Once again, no one picked up the phone at all. Arrived at 3:45 p.m., only to find yet again the office was completely closed. These sorts of experiences have taught me about the value, or lack thereof concerning first impressions, especially for a business. My approach is always to come in as a regular customer to see first hand how a company operates. In this case, the block of people on site in around to help during normal business hour, pretty much says it all about what sort of customer service I would receive in general as a corporate account. I gave my feedback and thoughts regarding this as a viable local shredding facility. needless to say, my wife will not put out a request for proposal. Clearly the better solution is a local facility like Shred Nation that has themselves well set-up in small shops around the Bay area, that are actually staffed.

I just came from Proshred in Pleasanton, was greeted so warmly and kindly by the receptionist, gave me instructions on what to do, drove to the back of building, was greeted by the owner, I believe April was her name and she was so kind, informing and professional. She took care of the process and reasonably priced, for sure my go to place from now on.

It is very rare to find a company that actually does what it says it is going to do. To feel like your presence is welcome and not just your money. When I contacted Proshred, I just wanted better security protocols for my company but what I got was someone who cared about our company. I got the president of the company to contact me directly. He was the one who sent me the estimate, scheduled the time and showed up at my door. He was so cheerful and passionate about his business. And; that is so rare to find. He gave me a brief overview of the protection that my company should have, delivery details and a quick contract. If I have any issues? I have the direct contact information for the President of the company. That is beautiful!!! It is a small business, but it is definitely worth looking into.
