Historically, 1803 saw the first Plymouth stationed search and rescue lifeboat. Then in 1825 the newly formed Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) placed a lifeboat in Plymouth. In 1861 the first proper Plymouth lifeboat house was built although its location changed a few times over the following years. RNLI Plymouth Lifeboat Station, Custom House Lane, Plymouth, PL1 3EQ, Devon, England has been home since 1992. It's a Grade II-listed three-storey tower, at Millbay Docks and the two boats [Severn Class & B Class] are moored afloat in the adjacent Millbay Marina.
