The newly opened museum of Plymouth. Excellent and informative display that is really well presented with a mixture of tactile exhibition and modern IT. Full of local history with Very interesting facts about the city that will open your eyes. Very clean and bright inside with beautiful cafe with attractive menu too. The shop is filled with interesting goods.

Since the expansion of The Box this place now has a lot to offer and I will definitely be returning soon. I haven't tried the café yet though. Plus, entry is free but it is worth donating too.

Newly reopened for the Mayflower 400, The Box is a great look into the past of Plymouth and even the World. It covers Plymouth's rich Naval history also and even has a new exhibit that focuses on the Mayflower 400 Anniversary which we found most interesting. Cafe on site is recommended, good sized portions of cake and the service was good too.

Lovely addition to Plymouth Lots of beautifully curated exhibits with interactive screens giving additional information. Enthusiastic guides and volunteers happy to chat about everything. Well worth a visit,in fact well worth several visits. I will certainly be returning. Had a very nice lunch and a glass of wine. Spent five hours there so needed a break!

An amazing venue full of wonderful artefacts and very knowledgeable staff. There was always someone nearby who was polite, friendly and helpful but we didn't feel pestered and could go at our own pace. Loved the little fun facts like that the mammoth was built by the people who had a hand on Chewbacca!

From the point of entry to the point of exit, the staff and volunteers are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The entire refurbishment has been a triumph: the entrance with the figureheads is stunning, the displays are beautifully laid out and arresting, the exhibits are extremely interesting, the audio-visuals are fascinating and arresting, and the food in the restaurant smells delicious! Also .... there's an adorable life-size woolly mammoth! I mean, what's not to love about that? St Luke's Church opposite, also part of The Box, has had a richly-deserved complete renovation. It's a lovely building, but (in my opinion) the space is being wasted. It would have been an amazing opportunity to gather together all of the local history archives, maps and records together in one space and open it to the public as a Local History Research Centre. Maybe one day?

Was really looking forward to seeing the museum and took the family along, we're from Plymouth and felt there was some lovely information relating to our past but in terms of the rest, we or I felt it was a bit of a disappointment tbh, I was gutted as I really felt it was going to be brilliant, the staff were very polite and helpful, really good. It's just the venue was a bit like it was nearly there but just fell short. A massive room with videos of people talking, what a waste of space, to many big gaps and some of the exhibits were too small. The museum in Exeter for example has more to offer, we're a big city, why are we not striving to better what they have? I'm unfortunately in no rush to return which is a shame.

Definitely better than the original museum. Not very much on the blitz and was smaller than I expected. The gift shop was fairly priced and was a nice hour and a half spent discovering the past.
