Okay, so we’ve all been to these kinds of pub/ restaurants before right?! Well this is one of those places with a difference! Firstly let me start by pointing out that this was during COVID so naturally everything is up in the air... yet somehow this place makes you forget about the ninja masks , social distancing and all the rest of it. The young lady who greeted us explained the new government guidelines and requested our contact information (along with proof of our name). She then offered us app or table service (which was refreshing as most places force you into using an app that is cobbled together by digital mice and often crashes), we chose table service and were shown to our table. After a short while (long enough for us to decide our food choices) a waitress came to greet us, she was pleasant, engaged in conversation about the change in dynamic since COVID and spoke like an actual human being which again made a change from the typical monotonous dining staff conversations of “the weathers bad isn’t it?” It was relatively quiet as it was a Sunday afternoon so our food was cooked quite promptly. I ordered the backyard BBQ burger, my partner, the 8oz rump. The burger is probably one of the best, if not THE BEST burgers I have ever had... bear in mind I make my own burgers at home! Honestly I could have eaten another one of these without a second thought, it was incredible (as is evidenced in my image below). My partners steak was also exceptional (whilst slightly over cooked to be called the medium rare that she’d requested), it was still absolutely delicious and she cleared the lot! Put simply the value vs quality in this place is insane. You get exceptional quality food at what’s essentially fast food prices. I could honestly continue to brag about this place but instead I’m simply going to suggest you try it yourself. Anyway from me, especially during this mental time we live in, I give this place 10/10 without a doubt!

Tastey food. Lovely welcome. Funny, attentive waitresses. Especially when they didn't have my dessert. Highly recommended

#Edit: as you can see from the churlish, obstinate, stroppy attitude of the manager, there is absolutely no desire to listen and learn to their paying customers. The Pottery has struggled for years despite having various managers and refurbishments, but the standard of service is emblematic of the poor quality of employees. I would be amazed if they are still open in 3 years. The food here is average and the pricing is endlessly increasing to the point where - without a voucher or discount code - it isn't a particularly economical place to eat. The main problem I have is with the way in which the male manager at the door is over-zealousy enforcing the covid-19 restrictions to the extent that it makes paying customers feel deeply uncomfortable and, frankly, unwelcome. I've eaten out at 6 different locations throughout August, and also visited 2 European countries. They've all enabled a safe, but happy, consumer experience for their patrons without going overboard like The Pottery. I witnessed one man practically jump out of his skin after he dared to walk outside the designated circle to place his empty glasses on the bar and was subsequently barked at by the aforementioned man. I saw another customer openly complaining to the bar lady that he and his family felt unwanted there. I saw a family turn away at the door when they realised that it was like entering a bio-hazard testing facility. My family and i (who were regulars before lockdown) were appalled and won't be back. In fact, I'll actively discourage my friends and acquaintances in the Ponty area from visiting. If they can't apply the rules sensibly, then they should shut up shop now and spare us anymore of their incompetence and hysteria.

We have visited the Pottery for many years and have always enjoyed but lately even more pleased. My household left feeling beyond impressed with the strict following of covid guidelines from all members of staff. Extra effort has evidently been put in to place to ensure all customer's safety is met. Our whole experience felt comfortable, enjoyable and as "normal" as could be given the current restrictions.

Lovely meal good beer nice venue. Only thing that spoiled our visit were the foul-mouthed drunk OLD yobs at the next table who should have been thrown out. You absolutely can't have bad language when there are families and kids around. We couldn't wait to finish the meal and leave. Would go again, but not if those idiots were there at the same time.

Felt very comfortable here, staff well prepared and protected. Tables well distanced. Table service was excellent. Only downside, a/c was very cold but that said a good experience.
