Ferry was 20 minutes from departure to arrival. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. The walks are well mapped out with good signage so you know how long it will take to get back before the ferry departs! Pretty well organised, you book a slot and get 3 hours to explore. Only thing I'd say is that wasn't quite long enough for us. We saw lots of red squirrels, but no deer.

Fabulous for a walk.... Make sure if you're going to go to the Quay, not like we did and go to the ferry terminal. Due to costs this one is closed. If it wasn't for a very kind bus driver who allowed us to ride his bus (a different company) we would never have arrived in time to get the last trip across. Thanks to the 2 ladies on the National Trust (26th Sept) for getting us aboard. It was a blustery day on Brownsea island but we enjoyed the sights and sounds and will come again
We saw so many red squirrels! I lost count in the end! We also saw some deer, peacock chicks, avocets and many other birds. We picked the perfect day to go because it was raining so it was quiet meaning the squirrels weren’t all hiding and it’s the time of year that they are running all over the forest floor digging up the nuts they’ve hidden. Just wish I had bought a camera with a proper lens on it because you can’t get any decent pictures of the wildlife at Brownsea using an iPhone camera!
Amazing place, so much to see. The children loved it. National Trust members get in free so its just the ferry costs. Take a picnic and spend the day there. The natural play area for the little ones was enjoyed for hours. We really need to go back as we missed so much!
A small boat trip takes you to the island and its fantastic for all. Plenty of seating and on the hour they do tours for the less mobile wild animals everywhere and a bird spotting shed do not pass up this opportunity to enjoy a cheap or free on national trust day out and spend some time with a picnic and enjoy the beautiful scenery before a short boat ride back Absolutely fantastic dont forget your camera
A delightful day out for kids and adults.
We had great weather for the day, the ferry over to the Island well organised for social distancing. Onto the woodland walk behind the church and we immediately came upon the red squirrels, fantastic. An enjoyable gentle stroll round the whole island rounded off with cup of tea and cake from the national trust cafe. A great place to visit.
Full and very enjoyable day on Brownsea. Close encounters with Sika dear and other wildlife. Wonderful panoramic views of the harbour and woodland walks. Best value for NT members.
