Beautiful trail but active signs of bears in the area. Huge trees and plenty of photo opportunities. Very peaceful.

Such a beautiful walk through the rain forest.

This hiking trail is wheelchair accessible! Which makes it a lot more inclusive. The trail itself is short and well laid out. The Haida have placed signs throughout the trail to highlight their perspectives. One thing that I did admire was there is no little to no mention about the act of cutting the tree. The focus is the tree itself. Which makes it feel special.

Haven't read the book so I don't really get why it's so special, big trees trees and stuff tho. Hike is just a walk tho. Wouldn't go again unless someone really want to go with me.

False Progress

When G.H. felled the spruce, his statement was about the hypocrisy of preserving a small area (for one tree) while clear-cutting vastly larger areas. Today, we see a lot of mountaintop clear-cutting for "green" wind turbines that resemble mutant, bleached trees. And "environmentalists" call people NIMBYs for wanting to leave what remains alone! It's all in the name of endless economic growth that few have the brains to question.

A short but worthwhile trail. Worth reading up on the history of the golden spruce before visiting

A nice, short, level walk through some beautiful old growth forest. Not much left to see of the golden spruce itself, however, as its remains are on the opposite side of the river.

if you want a hike that toddlers can do, its great. My kids loved the big trees.
