Mission To facilitate the school improvement and education reform process through the building of a “continuum of support” for children from early childhood to young adulthood and by focusing on the 5 pillars as a framework for school improvement plan; these 5 pillars entail the following: •Curriculum development •Capacity building •Infrastructure •Psychosocial support •Community projects We believe that Education is a societal matter and that schools are not only centers for teaching and learning but also centers for community development / poverty alleviation. Public schools exist in a volatile socio-economic and socio-political environment. One of the Co-founders (Trustees) of the Network and former Director of the Center for Community Schools (NMMU) Dr. Allister Witten termed this as "fragile functionality"​. The Manyano Network is committed to the concept of Community Schools as the ultimate solution to tackle the complex challenges that are facing Public schools in the 21st Century. As the Community Schools Project we also strive to engage with communities so as to strengthen and inform our interventions. We make use of the various outlets including social media to connect with our stakeholders. We encourage everyone who is passionate about the plight of a black child's education that is at risk to support our work in public schools by participating in this nation building dialogue in whatever way one sees fit. We are hoping to galvanize support by this page and other relevant outlets.
