This war memorial is named for the 29 local men and lads who signed up to fight in WWI. Sadly, not a single one came back. That's a heart breaking story.

This memorial was to commemorate the sacrifice of the Toll Boys during the 1st World War. The Toll Boys carried out repairs and odd jobs ,were the old Toll booth was on High Carnegie Rd in Port Glasgow.
A memorial to the boys who lost their life's fighting in the First World War. Removed from the now mostly empty houses near by and placed on a nicer and more fitting monument.
The memorial and what it stands for is great. Alas it's situated in one of the most run down areas of port glasgow.
