A very good coastal walk. Less crowded due to the national lockdown. It could be crowded in the National Trust car park once the tourist season starts. The access road is single lane for about a mile. But don't be discouraged..... the location more than compensates for any trouble.

Walked around the building whilst walking the costal path. It can be hired as a holiday rent from the National Trust. Information from sign. Doyden's beauty is recognised through its Heritage Coast status and being part of the Cornwall AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Doyden Castle, a truncated gothic folly was built by a successful local businessman, Samuel Symons, in 1827 as a place to entertain friends. It is now a Grade listed building and managed as a National Trust holiday cottage. Some of the flora at Doyden includes an area of heath with abundant bell heather, devil's bit scabious, betony, common dog violet, tormentil, red fescue, common bent and sweet vernal-grass, there is also golden samphire at Dayden Point, which is nationally scarce, but quite widespread locally. Mining was carried out on in the area with remains of mine adits to the south of Doyden Paint. The mines were known as Gilson's Cove Mine or Doyden Point Mine. They produced silver lead and maybe a little copper, but few records exist
Fantastic waves splashing up over the rocks. A lovely wild and windy walk.
