We stayed at the little motel across from Battle Rock about 12 years ago. The rooms were clean and cute. The owner was a sweet heart. We checked in about 9 or 10 pm, she made sure we had everything we needed. We woke up in the morning to the incredible view of Battle Rock and the ocean. If I remember right there used to be a coffee shop in the BR parking lot. Definitely recommend this unhiddenlitle gem on 101.

Beautiful little beach! Terminus of the Trans America Trail!
This is a great area to spend some time relaxing. Although the beach may be short it is well worth a trip. Most times I've been there to myself the occasionally there may be a couple of others. The water is usually fairly calm as it is somewhat protected. There are usually just a few small waves rolling in. There's a convenient parking area and you basically walk straight onto the beach. There's also a restaurant right at the port with great food. If you time it right you may be able to see them lowering boats into the water as their is no boat ramp there. You can also rent kayaks and kayak around the area.
The Port of Port Orford, although small, is historic in the fishing and lumber industry. The dry dock is one of only a few that lowers sea vessels into the water from cranes. This particular picture depicts The Black Pearl, a Zodiac style tour boat, being hoisted back up. There's also a unique restaurant to be experienced, Griff's on the Dock.
