I could not be happier with the care I received from the midwives at Hearth and Home. Every single interaction with Sarah, Charli, and Maggie was respectful, compassionate and reassuring. From zoom meeting to text message to hands-on physical exam I always ended up feeling well cared for, clear on what we’d talked about, and confident in my body’s ability to make and birth my baby. During prenatal appointments one or both of the midwives planning to attend my birth were fully present with me and my partner for hour long appointments, which we loved going to. The midwives prioritized answering our questions and concerns until we were satisfied, every time. No rush, no arbitrary agenda. At every appointment in the office or at our home they used their caring touch to check on my health and the baby’s vitals and position. No need for extra ultrasounds to tell what experienced hands can discover. Every step of the way the Sarah, Charli and Maggie were carefully assessing our status as “low risk” to make sure it was safe for us to birth at home. They did not hesitate to refer us to get some extra medical monitoring when that looked most prudent based on our specific case. Midwife Sarah took special care to speak directly to the OB who we would be seeing to make sure she knew what was going on and had some sense of who we were before we got there. In home postpartum care was a dream- I would never choose to do otherwise. Having the midwives that had cared for us for months come into our home and bring their medical knowledge, infant care and breastfeeding expertise, gentle voices, caring hands and ears ready and willing to listen to all of our concerns was invaluable. Highly recommended. These midwives are worth their weight in gold.

I've worked alongside Hearth & Home midwifery as a birth photographer, so I've gotten to witness their approach to client care from a different perspective and it's hard to put into words the attention and tenderness they give to a laboring woman (so you should definitely look at these pictures!) I had the honor of documenting their work as midwives, their gentle touch, their commitment to asking for consent every time they have to check the heartbeat, their quick thinking in moments of uncertainty, their competency and their overall gentle nature and amazing personalities. It's important to consider all of these things when inviting somebody into your birth space and especially when choosing a provider to help you bring your baby earthside. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody considering a homebirth. And I can't wait to work with them again!
We used Hearth and Home Midwifery for postpartum care for me and my new little guy and it was a fantastic experience. I can't recommend them enough - it was so nice to have care in the home instead of trying to get to both the pediatrician and OHSU for our care the first 6 weeks. They were incredibly responsive - the first week answering an email a day with questions and concerns. They were also incredibly knowledgeable. Again - I can't recommend them enough for your care!
Thank you for having such an excellent podcast! We stumbled upon it because we were searching for other midwife/birth podcasts and because we were thinking about creating our own podcast. We appreciate that you stay on topic and don’t meander off onto personal chatter and that the episodes are short and precise while still being very informative. Because yours is such a resource, we are going to put our idea of stating a podcast on the back burner and point clients and our students toward yours. Well done!
We were fortunate to find Hearth & Home Midwifery. Sarah and Charli were a calm and comforting presence throughout my pregnancy. During labor they struck the perfect balance between offering guidance and giving my husband and I space to labor quietly together. I thought midwifery was mostly about the prenatal care and delivery, but the care they provided in the weeks after our little one was born was absolutely invaluable. I'm not sure how parents get through their first few weeks without a midwife team!
