Beautiful theater, worth the visit. You can have a guided tour or go to one of the theater plays.

We had a guided tour with a very friendly and competent guide. Since we were a small group of people with various native languages, she explained everything first in Portuguese and then in English. She took her time in answering all our questions and let us roam around the theater where it is allowed.
Very cool theater. Took an extensive tour and was struck by the majesty of the building and its decorations. I would love to see a performance. We arranged a private tour early one morning and it was very impressive. Check out the theater in Wikipedia before you go so you will have some background history to build on. The personal audio guide devices are available and helpful to understand what you are seeing in each area.
Beautiful theatre with wonderful architecture, decoration is premium! A must to visit if you love inspiring places with class and art. The theatre room is amazing with Acácio Lino and Brito's allegorical painting on the ceiling spreading it's magic. The play was the premiere of Macbeth... I could not ask for more... ***** * !!!
Very beautiful place. Must see when visiting Porto!!!
For somebody who is or lives in Oporto and wants to attend a theater show, you should certainly take into consideration the São João National Theater. As a rule, you will find very good performances in this Hall, which belongs to the national Ministry of Culture. The building itself is also unique, dating from the end of the 18th century, although it has suffered a severe fire later in 1908. If you have time, you should also consider having a drink or a light meal in the Theater cafeteria.
Love!
Maybe the most beautiful theater in town.
