The house was a fast visit since we arrived there 15 minutes before closing time. I have Museum Card so I was able to visit with no fee so I walked it around. There would have been a binder where no read about the place more but I decided just to look around. The Fledrika's historical (free) garden was beautiful and had a lot of different species.

Beautiful place with interesting history. They give you a guide book at entrance which contains all the information you need. The entrance fee is 8 euros for adults and 6 euros for students or pensioners.

When you are visiting Porvoo and you have spare time (while waiting for your bus back to Helsinki), the place that you should visit. There are two Runeberg museums: Finland's national Poet, Johan L. Runeberg (Father) and a famous sculptor Walter Runeberg (Son). I paid the entrance fee for 8 for both museums and spent 40 mins in total. The museum is very near the city square and the regional bus stop.

The house (museum) is quite lovely and easy to find out based on the map. The museum staffs are friendly and willing to help or provide information about the house or the poet and his family.

Museum / House is small but very interesting with an insightful look in to the life of the national poet of Finland and the writer of the Finnish national anthem. Many personal items were on display including his wife’s receipt and equipment for making ‘Runeberg cake’. I need to find someone to help make them Due to COVID-19 there were no guide books to help during the tour (they are normally shared resource). The staff were extremely helpful and explained some queries at the end of the tour but the lack of signage explaining each room limited the experience. It would be useful to have a plasticised photocopy to help non-native visitors. The garden is beautiful and was well tended. I could have spent a long time sitting in the shade contemplating life on a lovely sunny day. The 8 fee includes entry to his son’s Sculpture museum located across the road. Check out the family tree showing his descendants up to present day. Reasonable value for money and a must see in this beautiful old town.
