Our kitty got sick and we needed a vet. It was hard to find a vet during the pandemic, but SVH was able to get us in within a few days. Unfortunately, our kitty was very, very sick and we had to make a really hard decision. The assistants (nurses?) and vet were very compassionate. They allowed us to be with him until the very end and gave us time to grieve. I recommend this vet to anyone who’s looking for one.

Now River Run Veterinary Hospital. Under new ownership of Dr. Jessica Walters. The clean an organized office had a welcoming presence. The knowledgable staff was kind & patient w/ my animals. No pressure sales. Very genuine. Reasonably priced for the area.
Avoid Schuylkill Veterinary Hospital at all costs. Ms. Thornton and Jackie have no business working with animals or people. We had to say goodbye to our best friend of 15 years today and due to COVID19, we were forced to go back to a vet who has never treated us or our animals with even the slightest bit of kindness or compassion. We understand the regulations that need to be in place because of the virus, but we can’t understand is how they can let us in the waiting room but not in the back to say goodbye to our dog. Ms Thornton gave us a cold no with no explanation and showed no sympathy for our pet. We decided that we could not let our dog spend his last moments with such a terrible woman and we told her we were leaving to have a vet come to our house. She said “honey you’re not finding any vet that will visit your house”. Two minutes later, we had an appointment made with Lap of Love. They came to our home and were wonderful. They were compassionate and understanding, the complete opposite of Sara Thornton, Jackie, and the rest of her staff. Don’t give this place any business! There are plenty of vets in the area that actually do their job and love animals.
I was visiting in the area and took my cat to see Dr. Thornton. The staff friendly and helpful and Dr. Thornton was absolutely wonderful! I found her to be knowledgeable and professional. She was able to help my cat and gave great advice for after and continuing care of my kitty. I highly recommend this clinic! I wish it were close to me so I could take all of my pets there!
