I have been teaching for 10 years. I have taught in Lawrence, KS, Philadelphia, PA, and Washington DC. I have never had a more positive experience with an educational institution from top to bottom. The board, the administration, the faculty, the parent community, and the remarkable students have made this the best teaching experience of my career. The education at Prairie Moon Waldorf School is truly profound and it is the first curriculum that I’ve encountered that educates the mind, body, and soul of the child. Our students are empowered and free to play, discover, and learn through our curriculum that holistically integrates the arts, music, literacy, second languages, mathematics, handwork, woodwork, gardening, the sciences, and encounters in the natural world.

Prairie moon is an amazing school. It is community-based and the style of education takes an active of approach , rather than the passive , sit-and-remember-information-from-a-textbook , approach that public school curriculums inoculate into the children’s developing mind’s. The difference is amazing. Children develop people skills , a judicial style of thinking , and a better ability to act in the moment. The education style is nature-based and emphasizes respect for the natural world. Which is something humanity greatly needs in this currently phase of history. Kids with a Waldorf education will inevitably have better chances of succeeding in life , whether in social circumstances or professional.

We moved to Kansas from Tucson and wanted to continue sending our son to a Waldorf school for continuity. Prairie Moon has been so welcoming and surpassed all of our hopes for our son's transition. My husband and I toured Prairie Moon about a year ago after a friend of ours in KC recommended that we check it out. We knew nothing about Waldorf Education, but decided that it wouldn't hurt to look into it. We were really struggling with how we were going to educate our children. Our oldest was quickly approaching 4, and all we knew was that so far there was no school in our hometown that would gift our children with the kind of education that we had imagined. We left the tour that day, and we were absolutely blown away. We didn't even have to have a discussion about it. We knew that we were moving to Lawrence and that our kids were going to Prairie Moon. Fast forward a year later, and I get to drop our son off everyday with the peace of mind that he is getting the very best out of his day. The care and attention and outpouring of love that is expressed by the teachers and care providers to guide the students each day is immeasurable. I seriously can't wait to see my kids grow up here.

Prairie Moon Waldorf School has been a huge part of both my daughter’s early years, then early childhood/preschool/kindergarten and moving on with the grades. The Prairie Moon community, has become a family of support and socializing and nourishment for our family’s life. I could not imagine these years any other way. Come for a visit...it’s not as far out as you think it is!

The most important thing I can say about Prairie Moon is that they help kids harness their innate love for learning. A child that loves to learn turns into an adult that loves to learn and that sets them up for success no matter what comes their way.
