The airport is ok, it's a smaller airport, no direct connection from the terminal to the plane. You'll have to walk to the tarmac and go up the stairs. The airport seems a bit disorganized to handle large crowd and is probably reaching capacity as it is busy. I recommend that you go there early especially if you are connecting to an international flight later. Staff are not very knowledgeable when it comes to international travels and I had problems before with suitcase allowances. I also recommend that you secure your bags properly as I got stolen on my last trip and it most likely happened after I checked the bags in João Pessoa. A lock won't be enough as mine got destroyed, you might want to have your suitcases wrapped in plastic film. On a final note I wish that there was an easier access to the rental car companies as you have to go all around the airport passing in front of the terminal when coming back. My last experience was a pain and sadly I might just fly through Recife next time even though I would have to drive 2 more hours. Never had a problem there.

Clean updated airport. It only has 4 gates, so there’s never a wait to get in. A few nice options in the food court. Long-term parking rates are reasonable. The airport doesn’t have any gangways (skybridge?), so you have to walk on the tarmac to board your plane, which is kinda cool, like air travel in the old days.
