Great decor, modern natural colours with tweed touches. Traditional English menu with good hearty dishes but very limited vegetarian main course options. Just cheese and onion pie with mushy peas and chunky but pale chips (needed an extra 2 minutes cooking time to give them a golden crispy coat). No vegan option. Unfortunately the two starters were sent back, the peppered mushrooms were crunchy due to the abundance of whole green, not black peppercorns which gave it a weird taste and fish cakes that were way too salty.

Came for a sunday lunch, Food was really nice well presented, very fast service, but didn't feel rushed, staff had a brilliant knowledge of what they had on tap, and what they had in stock. (Its surprising how many places dont). Very friendly staff. Definitely be returning again!

While visiting family in Preston we wanted to find somewhere to eat outside of the city centre. Someone mentioned the Boars Head at Hoghton and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious , I had rump of lamb which is a favourite of mine and it was the best I've ever had. We will definitely be back.

First time here. Good food. Lovely staff and roaring fire on a cold wet horrid day. Very welcoming.
