Horrible customer service, had an issue where a cheque came out of our account which was not supposed to, called to get the money back and to cancel the cheque, on day number 3 of waiting for the money to come back and still nothing. But when I called to cancel the cheque they said it’ll cost 12.50 to put a stop on it, that money was taken out immediately. They’re quick to take money from you, but take their time to give you your hard earned money back. There is no direct line to contact the branch which I find ridiculous. I called the customer care and they said to contact the branch directly.

I've dealt with BMO over 40 year's in different cities. I'm impressed with the employee's friendliness, they're knowledge & willingness to assist you. There is one problem. The wait in line. Most of the time there are not enough tellers open.
Such loooong lineups TD had long lines as well but they'd open up extra tills when possible. There was an unauthorized credit card purchase on my account but they would not refund my because it was listed as a recurring payment but my account was less than a year old and there were no previous charges from this company recurring or not EVER on my account. TD immediately refunded my when it happened to me there. BMO customer service is horrible. Still waiting on the phone forever to close my accounts as I have switched back to TD the ladies there know everyone and treat you nicely. Well guess I have to go to town into the bank and wait in line for half an hr or so. At least I'll be done with them once and for all.
You know what's retarded? Banks, they make you jump through hoops to get your own damn money. Won't cash checks from their own bank because it's a different branch or because you dont have an account with THEIR bank. It's stupid all the processes you have to go through to get something that is already yours!!! Frustrated, fourth trip to BMO and am I ever glad I don't bank here. Wasted 4 hrs of my life in 4 days( yes 4 separate trips there) so far trying to cash a check for my damage deposit!!! And if that's not enough, one trip there, I had to have a crispy old woman looking at me like I was an insect and tell me, with an hr left in the business day that she wouldn't be able to help me because it's to late! Each trip I've made to BMO, takes an hour or more in the bank waiting. The trip that took the least amount of time was when I was turned away beacause it was too late. To top all of that off, they charged me 30( which is 5 less than what my husband and I pay for our 6 account at our current bank) just to certify the check, meaning I still needed to take the check to another bank and cash it there. The only reason I gave it one star, is there is no option for zero stars!!!

The line is always long(up to the door). They also close and lock the doors earlier then their scheduled open times.
Great bank to deal with. Line ups can get long just like any other bank.have been dealing with the for over 15yrs and there service level is great. I have dealt with them on loans,Mortage’s,line of credit and money exchange for other countries.if you google rates for intrest BMO is always in the top 5. they also have the BMO investor line which allows you to buy your own stocks which also has a very friendly user app and webpage. People say don’t keep all your eggs on one basket,BMO has treated me very good so all my eggs are staying in one basket lol
