Always have liked this place, food constantly excellent and a great vibe, especially in the bar area.

This is a local Princeton restaurant. Tonight it was a little loud and the service was a little slow. I wouldn't have cared but we were seeing a play at McCarter and was in a bit of a time crunch. We had the mussels appitizer and the stuffed mushroom appitizer. The mussels portion was huge and enough for 2 people. The mushrooms were not wbiufh for 2 people. Both were pretty good although there were 2 mussels that were not opened and the mushrooms were buried in the clam stuffing which was more of a topping. The mushrooms were delicious with a smokey earthy flavor. I could have more mushrooms. Some of the mussels were a little sandy but the sauce was good. The garlic bread was a bit dry but good once you soaked it in the broth from the mushrooms. We shared the large walnut and bleu cheese salad which was plenty for 2 people.
Every cocktail and appetizer I’ve had here so far has been amazing
I never know for sure what to expect at this restaurant. They've ruined well planned Birthday surprises, they lack communication between the different employees, and sometimes the dishes are so salty they are almost completely unpalatable. On my Birthday, I asked for plain broccoli on my pasta dish and got broccoli rabe, which was too bitter for me. My recent visit was mostly pleasant and the food was pretty good. Since the pandemic is still going on, my friend and I ate outdoors, and there were little flies and bugs everywhere. The old school music was blasting from the speaker which faced directly at our table, so we had to ask for the volume to be lowered so we could talk normally. The tables were set within a good distance apart and the server was fine, unlike my last server, who was exceptional, attentive, friendly, funny, and extremely knowledgeable about the food and the wines. I was so impressed with her. Anyway, both our dishes were delicious and visually appealing, despite being slightly over salted. Our mixed drinks were okay, nothing special. Overall, I'd come back again because of the convenient location and generally good food. But it's certainly not one of my favorite restaurants because it's so inconsistent.
Very pleasant experience, started off of the French onion soup which was okay, could have been warmer. But then I ordered the Tijuana salmon and it was excellent, highly recommended. Enjoy the craft beer selection not too many IPAs thankfully, and the bartender was super attentive and pleasant.
