Great outdoor range. Operating time sunrise to sunset. Very very spacious. Many posts and much open field. If you bring a target just tell down either side of the field to hold fire. Place your target and get to shooting! Friendly to any weapon you may legally possess.

The range isn't large, nor is it extravagant... but it's free! Our first time there on a Sunday afternoon in April was enjoyable. No range officer was there at the time we went, but I was told there is one at times on the weekends. There is plenty of space to shoot pistols, shotguns, or even medium range rifles, but you have to bring your own targets. We set up a target stand with our own steel targets, and that was nice because we didn't have to go down range. And that's the biggest issue: you have to coordinate with others there to make sure the entire firing line is safe. If others around you are smart shooters, it goes very well. But I can imagine scenarios where there is no range officer and some unsafe shooters could cause an incident. Thankfully, everyone was very safe when we were there! Overall, it's a nice free alternative if you are comfortable making sure everyone is shooting safely around you. But I'm a member of the Milan Rifle Club and that's well worth the membership fee for a variety of indoor and outdoor ranges.

Nice free outdoor range. Not many of those. We’ve been going there for years and it’s much cleaner now. Nothing fancy. Always find that people are good and when the ranger is there, he keeps things in order.

Updated over the past several years. Shooting benches added to all the lanes. Movable targets is a nice touch. IOWA DNR Rangemaster often there during the weekends to answer questions and help control when its safe to walk down range to change/check your targets. And yes; its free and open to the public. Nice family atmosphere. Many pleasant hrs have been spent there with son and now I take my daughter.

Nice place to shoot outdoors. The range officer, when present, does an excellent job at keeping the place safe and relatively clean. I see one comment about the target stands being shot up. You can blame the amateur Rambo's and \hold my beer\ shot gunners for that problem.
