Great little island. I think a day is plenty enough to wonder around if you have Naples as your base. The beaches were not that impressive.

Procida is one of the Phlegraean Islands located between Cape Miseno and the island of Ischia, about 5 km from the coast of Naples. It includes the nearby Vivara islet, which is connected to Procida by a bridge. Procida, one of the islands that embrace the Bay of Naples, has managed to preserve its original, true beauty, uncontaminated nature and simplicity of life. Cradle in clear and shimmering waters, this small island is a precious jewel box containing natural landscapes of delightful green hues, colors of bygone ages, iridescent landscapes, and magnificent views of primitive and wild splendor. The natural harbors are full of fishing boats, reminding the ancient traditions that local residents cherished ... The most distinctive physical feature of the island is the medieval castle called \Terra murata\, located above the sea on the eastern approach to the main port. Over the years, it has evolved from being a castle to a prison, to where it is today, a public monument. Besides the main harbor, two small harbors called Chiaiolella, located just below the imposing old fort and a small natural harbor at the southern tip of the island These two small harbors are truly peaceful and beautiful. The nearby Vivara islet is also worth seeing. The crescent-shaped remains of an ancient volcanic crater that surrounds Procida to the southwest and is connected to it by a bridge is now a nature reserve. It is also the last archaeological site to uncover the Mycenaean pottery left by the Greeks who were there centuries before the \original\ Greeks colonized the bay.
Several writers have set their novels in Procida. These include Graziella written by Alphonse de Lamartine, who came to Procida from Bourgogne at the beginning of the 19th century while in the French army; and Arthur's Island (1957) by Elsa Morante. Procida has been chosen as a film set for numerous films (more than 30 movies) including The Postman and The Talented Mr. Ripley. Procida was also the site of filming for scenes in Cleopatra 1963, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Specifically, the harbor of Procida was shown in scenes related to Cleopatra's barge, where it was intended to represent the harbor of the ancient city of Tarsus in Asia Minor. In anachronistic Hollywood fashion, the baroque dome of the church in Procida can be seen in the background as the golden Egyptian barge of Cleopatra is docking in the port. In 2013, Fabrizio Borgogna launched the Procida Film Festival, an international contest for young movie directors, writers and lovers. Every summer, there is an election of the Graziella (\Little Graceful\), a young woman that wears the customary clothes of the island, referring to the history told in Alphonse de Lamartine's novel, Graziella. Also during the summer, a literary award dedicated to Elsa Morante and her novel, Arthur's Island, is presented.
You must see this beautiful island with romantic streets in colourful village.
Cute little island. Came here from Ischia to check it out and it was easy to walk through and explore. Beautiful views from the top sites. People are friendly and hospitable.
An incredible fabulous wild island!
Beautiful island in the bay of Naples which is near Capri. Unlike Capri there are almost no tourists.
Overbuilt small island which has not much of interest to go there. The only place which could be of interest (the reserve) is closed.
