A wonderful small site, very interesting history of rebuilding and changes since Norman times. There is a small museum section in the Manor House with interpretation and a display of archaeological finds. Our children had a great time going around the site spotting different features from window styles to carved heads. The ruined sections were good fun to explore and we even managed to walk around the perimeter. There is a small car park next to the site, access is quite steep so you are permitted to bring your car into the courtyard to drop off if necessary.

Went in Aug 2020. Not huge, but nice! A short trip out. Walking around the castle was fun!

Really enjoyed Prudhoe Castle - its about 30 minutes from me and I won't lie, I didn't even realise it was there!! Good size car park and it's a nice walk up to the entrance (not too strenuous!). History of the castle is presented well inside and then you can walk round the grounds, including the moat, down to the old mill and there is a lovely pond!! I was looking out for toads, but I only saw ducks :) worth a visit!

A beautiful place set in Woodland and offers lovely views of the town of Prudhoe. You can see the evidence of all the changes the castle has been through. The Manor house inside the grounds is still complete and used as the ticket office.

Not a huge site and not a lot of signage around so won't take you long to walk the whole site. Interesting little museum with some amazing artifacts.

If you like ruins its worth the visit but the entrance is steep

Not much to see inside but definitely worth the visit for the outside, especially if you like ruins (I mean that in a good way). Have a look at the pictures and decide for yourselves.

One of the very few castles in English that has been in constant occupation since its construction. The property is owned and managed by English Heritage. The castle is very discreetly hidden away in a small coppice. A walk around what would have been a curtain wall and moat, is a charming experience. On a bright day, such we had, it was beautiful. There were bramble bushes laden with juicy ripe blackberries and birdsong a-plenty. Bring a picnic, buy a tea or coffee and enjoy the peace, space to relax and let the children wander for a bit. This castle has seen much remodeling since its days as a fortress. I only needs you to come see it.
