The church is a domed single-nave basilica type completed in the 6th or 7th century. Presently, the only surviving parts of the church are most of the north wall, part of the south wall with one of the four impost arches of the dome, and some traces of the vaulting. The cupola and ceiling vaults, drum, and dome have since collapsed.

Unfortunately, the church is in ruins... But you can feel that it used to be a huge one... It is still pleasant to be in it... The windows of the church are decorated with lavish ornaments... The sizes of the church are great... It is very close to Yerevan.

Ճարտարապետական տիպով և մեծ ծավալներով շատ նման է Թալինի Կաթողիկեին, Դդմաշենի և Արուճի տաճարներին։ Բայց Պտղավանքը դրանիցից ավելի հին է, կառուցվել է 6-րդ դարի վերջին։ Շենքը բարձանում է աստիճանավոր պատվանդանի վրա, ինչպես Ավանի և Երերույքի տաճարները։
