Overall my experience with the public defenders office was offal. First, the lawyer they appointed my husband wasn't competent. Lawyers are supposed to stand up for you and defend your case, Robert Jones did neither. My husband was mis led and advised that the charges he was about to sign for would be run concurrent with another sentence he was serving out of another county, which didn't happen. When we learned of the mistake we called the public defenders office and spoke with several different people regarding this matter and no one offered to help it get fixed,. including Mr. Jones. I called repeatedly for several months and never even got a return phone call. Seeing that we were getting no where with the public defender, we filed a motion to get back into court and get the time fixed on our own without our PAID public defenders help. The court responded to our motion with a denial saying that we were threatening the court???? how idk when we are just trying to get credit for the time he has been in jail serving. Needless to say we are still fighting this battle almost 2 years later thanks to the GREAT public defender Mr.Robert Jones, and my husband is still in jail serving time he isn't getting credit for. If I had it to do over again I would NEVER NEVER NEVER get a public defender in Williamson County.
