Taking pride in their origins. *No menu card Reason: Covid-19, food depends on availability (Not everyone has the luxury to eat without checking pockets) *I took puri, 40 for 2 pcs, asked for sabji refill, they told on my face 'we serve sabji only once'. I said okay, get me some chutney, he bought half of the Cup (probably because I had one puri left in my plate) *I ordered Uthappa, when he got back with it, I told him to get me some extra chutney, he's like 'already gave you'. I said I need it for Uthappa, again, half cup of chutney along with a statement 'thats it no more chutney' * There was no one incase you want to ask for something like refill, water. Once they serve, they go back to do their own chores. I went inside the snack store with plate for refill which they didn't appreciate, wanted me to be seated and wait. In simple words, they didn't bother about attending the customer Above is my experience. Ofcourse it varies with individuals but the reason for my rating is they lost the sense of basic ethics - We go to a restaurant and PAY to eat what we want and how we want, not to be told how much chutney/sabji I should suffice my meal with. You want more money, ask for it but not letting people eat the way they want is by no means a favour. These guys have a unique practice of showcasing the basic price of an item along with a statement that says Tax extra. This shows how highly they feel about themselves. By now it is evident, the discomfort I had with them, I haven't spoken about the food taste and quality, this is already looking like a a blog article on Cottage Restaurant. I am a firm believer of 'The experience defies the quality, taste, quantity', you feed only a little amount but with a pure heart, the effect will echo beyond the loop of death and life. Making customer feel he/she is undervalued is not cool.

Eating is not just about tickling tongue. It is an experience. If you want to experience eating, Cottage Restaurant is the place to go. Architecture, serenity and ambience are part of the experience. I feel in love with this place many years back and I continue to be fascinated. You can expect the best quality in whichever food item you select. They serve South Indian breakfast. They have North Indian snacks and also baked varieties. However, there are timings for eating on the terrace. Restaurant timings: 7.30 am to 1 pm. 4 pm to 6.15 pm. Remains closed on Mondays.
I used to love this place. So very much. And that’s why it pains me that the quality has gone down the drain. Watery coffee, sambar and coconut chutney. Took my family for breakfast and was embarrassed to have them eat there. No complaints with the service. But the quality has gone down over the past year.
This place has been there for many decades now. Awesome place with wonderfully delicious sweets and savouries. My all-time favourite.
I like the cashew chocolates that are available here. They are really awesome. So if you are in pondy don't forget to taste it and take it with you while going back to home. Enjoy your visit...
What ever one gets here is so good, almost like Prasad from the Ashram. The ambience is like a spiritual Oasis , in the center of the Town .
The ambience is great here with bamboo trees. There's lots of demand for this place, irrespective of the day. The quality of food cannot be questionable ever, that's the trust they have established. There's only one point I thought needed for a person visiting this restaurant is parking for the vehicle. Otherwise all good.
Clean and calm ambience blended with food at remarkably affordable rate .
