You can have a pleasant view of sunrise if you visit early in the morning. 50m from rock beach. Best time to visit: 5-7am. Even if you visit after 7am you can feel the chill breeze but after 11am it will be too hot to visit this place in summer season.

It's is situated nearby Rock Beach. The statue is well maintained. It is one of the iconic place in Pondicherry. The place is good for walk and it is situated opposite to iconic french war memorial. Good place for evening stroll. Also the nearby area is well cleaned and maintained. Day & Night Time both good place
This statue is situated in the Promenade beach/rock beach. A great place to take a stride on, or just sit by the sea and enjoy the breeze, or fill your tummies from the plenty if eateries all over the beach or pretty much anything. Take your dog for a walk, let your children play around, this is an all in one beach.

Ti experience the culture of Pondi, it is necessary to visit few beaches, markets, but the rock beach and Mahatma Gandhi Statue is the single place to get a glimpse of the city life. Also, most of the city gets closed by 7-8 PM so if you want to hang out or drink at a nice place, Rock Beach area has a lot many good places to eat and drink.
I have visited this place in 2019, from Vellore We went this place, A clean and tidy city is a small town. It was a memorable day in my life. this is situated near sea beach.
At Promenade Beach, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi - Father of the Nation, is one of the main landmarks in the territory of Pondicherry. The statue was built by a popular sculptor, Roy Choudhary. Apart from the statue itself, the main highlight of this popular tourist site in Pondicherry is the eight beautiful carved pillars that surround the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. It was Gingee Fort, which is around 68 km from Pondicherry, from where these monolithic granite pillars were brought and were erected in the year 1866. However, the Gandhi Statue was later placed in the year 1965, just opposite to the Old Pier. Gandhi Statue is the third biggest effigy of Mahatma Gandhi with a height of 4 m. Just below the statue, there is a tunnel that leads all the way to Gingee. In the past, the government took some initiative to make this tunnel work by desilting it. As a result of this, few people died out of suffocation, and hence, the tunnel was eventually closed. People who visit Promenade Beach also come to explore this historical site in Pondicherry. Every day, a large number of travellers pay a visit to this place which signifies the importance of Gandhi Statue in the tourism sector of Pondicherry.
