Sri Aurobindo Ashram : Sri Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry, Your Pondicherry trip is incomplete without a visit to Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Started by a group of disciples of Shri Aurobindo after he chose to retire in 1910, this ashram was handed over to the spiritual collaborator Mirra Alfassa, commonly referred to as the Mother. The ashram is one of the most spiritual and tranquil places to visit in Pondicherry and is frequented by tourists, spiritual aspirants and locals who wish to learn more about Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, who spent their lives here and also to practice or learn Integral Yoga, a form of yoga that aims to transform human life into the divine life. If you are in town definitely visit this place. Pics n any recordings not allowed inside. Must maintain silence in side premises. Better not to bring kids/infants with you here. If you have any kids with u, try to take 1 by 1 turn to go inside. They close at 11 am and reopen again at 4 pm,plan ur visit accordingly.

The historic Aurobindo Ashram is the bungalow where the famous Indian philosopher, yogi, and nationalist, Sri Aurobindo Ghosh had stayed from 1894 to 1906. It is a spacious bungalow with 23 rooms and houses a study room, a library, and a sales emporium. What draws most people to this place is its calm environment, which is ideal for meditation, introspection, and spiritual healing. You can also find here various relics of Sri Aurobindo and all the books that have been written by and about him.
