Emelia at the front desk has been the most helpful person behind a front desk I have ever met. We had a small problem with transfers to the Ferry (Our driver had not shown up) she immediately called Ivan, the barman over to facilitate us getting tickets, and helping with luggage at the pier, something that is rather chaotic with limited Spanish skills. Anyways, we will stay there every time we visit the Galapagos, and recommend it to all that are interested!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Solymar. At check-in we were greeted with fresh juice and a warmed washcloth to freshen up from traveling. The staff was extremely accomodating throughout our stay. They helped us find local adventures and excursion packages. The daily breakfast was a nice way to start our day. The rooms were clean, air-conditioned and comfortable. I would definitely return
The hotel is in a very convenient position because it is on the promenade, that is on the main shopping street of Puerto Ayora. The internal side, however, gives a view of the sea and the harbour of Puerto Ayora. The breakfast tables are on a porch, near the outdoor swimming pool, on a small terrace overlooking the sea. The swimming pool was OK, but I was there in low season and so I could not enjoy it. However, the most interesting fact of my stay in thi hotel was seeing a sea lion sitting in the driver's seat of a motorboat moored in front of the swimming pool of our hotel. The following day I found I sea lion near the swimming pool, with some beatiful birds and many iguanas (as you can see in the video section).
Great and fun experience great attention to details, exceptional services, and hospitality.
The hotel is so quaint, the service is friendly, and attentive without being overbearing or stuffy. I wish I could live here.
Bed was very hard, sheets like sand paper. Had a hard time regulating the climate control. Staff was very friendly and good food.
Stayed here 10 years ago with wife, kids and 80 year old grandma. It looks exactly the same in the pictures now and then. Owners or Staff were great, then they had a 1 winged resident pelican that they fed. Kids, (10 and 12), were swimming in the pool and they asked if they would like to swim with a semi resident seal. They weren't so sure but eventually they agreed. Exciting but a bit terrifying for them as he cut a head off a fish and tossed the head in beside them causing the seal. (They had a name but i cant remember it), to flop over to the pool and swim around. You just can't imagine how fast the seal was! Kids neglected the rule ( nearly anywhere in South America still) , that you throw ALL Toilet paper in the garbge can not down the toilet, Backed up the toilet! Some of our lives best memories here!
We had a very good seafood cevice.
