Purchased a Whyte 429 for my son back in January from the Storrington shop. On first ride out it appeared that the RH Chain stay had cracked after just 13 miles of trail riding. This was subsequently, after two trips to the shop and phone calls defined as “chain suck’. Bike was returned to whyte for inspection and eventually returned to ourselves as nothing wrong with it. On getting it home it was now clear the headset bearing was failing, with the handle bars difficult to turn to the left. Decided to try and ride as my son didn’t have a bike, but one further ride showed this needed to be replaced. Compounding this paint was wearing off crosstube after 4 rides and the front fork clearance meant the wheel blocked with mud. Bike returned to shop again where we asked for either a replacement, not whyte bike, or refund to be provided. Told by owner that it was not for us to decide what our options were, he would decide that once he’d spoken to whyte. Today I was told we could have a refund and that there wasn’t an alternative bike available. We are now left without a bike (his old trek marlin was sold after 2 years use and was still better than this bike) and no birthday present! An 825 bike shouldn’t be this poor and the service from Southdown bikes is equally as poor. Zero customer service and will not be buying from here again.

Haven’t been to a bike shop for years as I’ve found myself just ordering online. But after needing some help fixing my bike I may revert to supporting out my local shop. Really good service from Dave and fairly priced work. Good range of products and bikes in the Storrington shop. Will be recommending friends to do the same.

I have just had my bike serviced and repaired by South Downs Bikes in Storrington and I am so impressed with the friendly and professional service I recieved. Martin and Zach were absolutely fantastic and I was kept informed of the progress all along the way. My bike feels like brand new !! Thanks guys ...

I have been to South down bikes many times over the years and I think I can finally give an honest review. Quality of service - although most of the staff are on the younger side they were pleasant to deal with and fairly knowledgeable. Bikes for sale - very expensive but good quality. A tier above Halfords but at what cost?! Would recommend this place for repairs and part replacements and if you want a very high quality bike, this is the place for you.
